Welcome to Warren Middle School PTO
Welcome to the 2016-2017 Academic Year!
Are you a new WMS parent, feeling a little overwhelmed? Don't worry, you are not alone! Here are a few FAQ's to get you started:
Do I need to accompany my child into school when they are late? No, you do not need to escort your child into the school. Simply drop them off and they will proceed to the office for a pass.
When are students considered late for class? Students will be considered tardy if they are not in their class room seat at 8:05AM. A doctor or dentist note is required to be excused from a tardy. After 4 consecutive tardies in a quarter, a letter will go home and detention with Mr. Achtau will be issued.
What if my child forgets his lunch? Simply bring the lunch into the front office. There are bins located by the front desk in the office. Each grade has a bin. Place the lunch in the correct bin. The bin will be placed in the APR during their lunch at a table near the milk. Please put your child’s name on the lunch. The school will ensure that they do get their lunch!
What is the procedure for picking up a child from school before dismissal? A note is required for early dismissal as per the BOE. Send the note in with your child. Your child should DROP the note off to the FRONT OFFICE (not with the homeroom teacher). Phone calls for non-emergency early dismissals will not be accepted. You will also be required to show identification prior to signing the student out.
What is the procedure for picking up my child from school at the regular dismissal time (instead of having them ride their regular bus home)? You do not need to notify the office with a note in this case. Simply make arrangements with your child that morning and agree on a meeting place. Most cars begin to line up around 2:15pm for pick up. You are also most welcome to simply park in the lot and wait for your child or you can even get out of the car and meet your child by the flag pole. Safety is a concern, so please remind your child to stay vigilant when walking through the parking lot at school. If you forget to make arrangements or tell your child that you are picking them up, please call the guidance office and not the main office for help in that situation.
How early can I drop my child off in the morning? Supervision in the building is provided as early as 7:40AM.
What is the cell phone policy? Cell phones are permitted. They must remain in the locker during the day and the ringer should be turned off. No cell phones are permitted at lunch time.
What if my child forgets his/her chrome book or homework or project? Simply drop the project or homework off in the main office. Students should know to check in the office if they realize they have forgotten something. The office is not allowed to interrupt the class, so they will not call the student to notify them. Students are always welcome to stop by the office at any time to check for items or to ask questions.
Have more questions? Feel free to explore this website; there are many great resources. You can contact me, anyone on the PTO Board, or any of the Grade Representatives with questions. We are happy to help, and if we cannot answer your questions, we will connect you with someone who can!! If there is other information you would like to see on our website, please let me know that as well!
Wishing you all an excellent year!
